While working at the Texas Medical Center, Alex saw patients struggle with the routine aspects of healthcare - finding appointments, dealing with insurance, finding transportation, dealing with pharmacies, coordinating home health, and so much more. It was overwhelming for patients and their caregivers. Things fell through the cracks, care got delayed and health worsened.

He decided to personally navigate patients in their care. Alex spent his days working on routine tasks, no matter how small. He searched for technicians to fix a patient's wheelchair, searched for dentists, or scheduled appointments, and called insurance to deal with a bill. Despite helping with only logistical support, patients' health and morale improved.

Alex created Lena to give patients this support with the vision that every patient have access to an expert navigator - a connected healthcare insider that knows what the next step is. We believe technology can augment passionate clinicians by offloading the routine so they can focus on patients.
